Shelter Friends is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to promote the health and welfare of homeless animals in St. Charles, Missouri. We are not a rescue group; we are a shelter assistance and networking group whose purpose is to work directly with animals at the shelter and to help them find rescue or adoption to their future “furrever” homes.
Since 2013, Shelter-Friends has assisted St. Charles animal control with over 1200 animals being saved to date. The euthanasia rate has dropped from 34% in 2012 to 4% in 2016, essentially helping to turn a kill shelter into a no kill shelter. No adoptable animals have been euthanized since July of 2013. The barn cat program started in August of 2014 and the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) ordinance passed in August of 2015.
All animals featured on this website are considered urgent and are available at the City of St. Charles Animal Control. The adoption fee for adult animals is only $46.50 and includes a voucher for a free or reduced fee spay/neuter. Puppies and kittens are only $30.00 and include a voucher for a free or reduced fee spay/neuter.
Please call the St. Charles Animal Shelter at (636) 949-3395 to inquire about the availability of these animals, or you can call or text the president of Shelter Friends (Dawn Dulle) at (314) 750-7979 or email her at email@example.com.
We are very grateful to these veterinary practices for their assistance with our lifesaving mission.
